The Arts and Pedagogical TOY MUSEUM was founded in 1918. Sergiyev Posad has the country's only College of Toys and a Toy Research Institute. Along with the museum, this unusual complex has made the city known as 'the capital of the fun kingdom'. This is the actual birth-place of the world-famous Russian nesting doll, or matryoshka.
