To Rizopolozhenskiy Monastery's northwest, near the Kamenka river, slands the ALEK SANDROVSKIY MONASTERY. According to legend, it was founded in 1240 by Aleksandr Nevskiy, and was called Bol'shaya Lavra (Large Monastery). No ancient buildings on its territory have survived. The monastery's architectural complex is made up ot the Church of the Assumption, with a bell tower (1695) and the Holy Gates, restored in 1947.
