Baikal Transsib. ViaggiareinRussia.com. This route gives you the opportunity to travel from one side of the continent to the other with one stop on the way - the Baikal Lake!
Baikal is the deepest lake in the world. Its maximum depth is 1,637 m. Baikal is 636 km long and 79.4 km wide at its widest point. The lake's shore-line is about 2,000 km long. Baikal's water surface area is 31,500 sq. km. This comes out to about the area of such a country as Belgium, the Netherlands or Denmark. The gigantic reservoir of fresh water containing about 23,000 cu.km of life-giving moisture is highly saturated with oxygen. The lake is the largest reserve of fresh surface-water on the globe. It would take all the rivers of the world - the Volga and Don, Dnepr and Yenisei, Ural and Ob, Ganges and Orinoko, Amazon and Thames, Seine and Oder - nearly one year to fill Baikal's basin, and all the rivers, streams and brooklets now flowing into the Siberian lake-sea, about four hundred years.

Day 1

Arrival to Moscow. We transfer you from the airport to a 3 star hotel. The rest of the evening is free to have a rest after the flight - or unpack your camera and explore the surroundings!

Day 2

After breakfast at your hotel enjoy the sightseeing program of your choice! The excursions are using public transport to get acquainted with the city veins and feel like a Moskovian. One choice is included into your FULL ON tour, no extra payments needed!

(A) THE GOLDEN DOMES - see the best of Moscow during this three-hour tour. The Red Square, Alexander garden, Christ the Saviour, Tverskya Street and Novodevichy Convent - these are the best photos you can ever make in the Russian capital.

(B) MOSCOW KREMLIN - definitely the heart of Moscow - and the whole Russia. Kremlin is more than just cogged walls, and from the Cathedral Square inside the Kremlin area you get into Assumption and Annunciation Cathedrals, walk along the lanes of the Secret Garden and - if you are lucky - see the Putin's cavalry paying fomage to the country.

(C) ART LOVERS -- choose between Tretyakov Gallery and Pushkin Museum. Tretyakov is the Louvre and Prado of Moscow, it hosts an unbelievably huge collection of the Russian artworks. They say it would take one weeks to enjoy each and every painting. Pushkin features a nice collection of Impressionists and a collection of golden artifacts from Shliman's Troya.

Day 3

After breakfast at the hotel you have just enough time to pack your things and get out for the last-minute shopping and souvenir quest. Explore the Old Arbat street, the poetry and symbol of Moscow, where you can buy anything from nesting dolls to a military soviet fur hat, and enjoy a coffee in one of the numerous cafe.
In the evening we transfer you to the Yaroslavsky train station, and our Trans-Siberian odyssey begins!

Day 4

Excitement and anticipation as we settle in our comfortable train compartments. Get to know your travel companions - train journeys are a great social occasion for them and they will appreciate sharing your stories and photos. The train carries us across the Ural mountains to Yekaterinburg and on.

Day 5

The train carries us on and on - past Tyumen and Omsk, Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk, booming over the steel bridges spanning the Siberian rivers, and the greens and yellows of the birch forests flicker in the windows.

Day 6

We are now in the midst of the Eastern Siberia, and the Lake Baikal is just hours away. Don't miss the chance to get off on the train stops and try the local food from babushkas. The choice is excellent - home-made pies, boiled potatoes, grilled chickens, smoked fish and all sorts of vegetables.
