After passing the Chinese- Mongolian border, in a small town Erlian (China) you will change the train and continue your trip to Russia on board of Nostalgie Istanbul Orient Express. Nostalgie Istanbul Orient Express is the best train in Russia passing this route and has nothing in common even with the 1st class 2-berth compartments in "firmenny" trains normally offered by travel agencies. It consists of 8 first-class sleeping carriages, containing private compartments with one lower or twin upper and lower beds, and a built-in washbasin with hot and cold running water. During the day, compartments are converted into comfortable salons. There are two dining carriages, a shower carriage, a Pullman car and a bar carriage, all of which are beautifully decorated with inlaid glass paneling.

Original carriages (sleeping, shower, Pullman and bar were built in England, Belgium, France and Italy in the 1920s-1930s and were the part of the legendary "Orient Express".

August 26: Breakfast. Visit to the Summer Palace. Lunch in the city. Visit to the Sky Temple. 7pm: Boarding the "China Orient Express". Overnight on the train.

Day 3
Sunday

August 27: Arrival to border town of Erlian. Transfer to Nostalgie Orient Express. City tour, including a trip to the Mongolian market. Overnight on the train.

Day 4
Monday

August 28: Arrival to Ulaan-Baator. Visit to the Buddhist Monastery, Sukhe-Baator Square, the Summer Palace. Acrobatic show and folk performance in the evening. Overnight in the hotel. (***)

Day 5
Tuesday

August 29: City tour of Ulaan-Baator. Excursion to Nomaden. Visit to a Mongolian family, living in a yurt. Board the train in the evening. Cross the border with Russia at night. Overnight on the train.

Day 6
Wednesday

August 30: Arrival to Ulan-Ude. Excursion to the largest Buddhist monastery in Russia. City tour. Return to the train. On this day the train goes along the Southern shore of Lake Baikal, the largest freshwater lake in the world. Overnight on the train.

Day 7
Thursday

August 31: Arrival to Lake Baikal. Walk around Listvyanka, a typical Siberian village. Visit to the Orthodox Church. Dinner. Bus transfer to Irkutsk. Accommodation in the hotel (***). Overnight in the hotel.

Day 8
Friday

September 1: City tour of Irkutsk, visiting local sights. Lunch in a local restaurant with a folk show. Visit to the Local History Museum and the market. A classical music concert in the evening. Return to the train. Overnight on the train.

Day 9
Saturday

September 2: Arrival to Krasnoyarsk. Boat trip on Enisey River. City tour. Return to the train. Overnight on the train.

Day 10
Sunday

September 3: Arrival to Novosibirsk. City tour. Lunch. Visit to Akademgorodok, the district of scientist and researchers. Return to the train. The train will enter and go through Siberian Taiga. Overnight on the train.

Day 11
Monday

September 4: Arrival to Ekaterinburg. Excursion to the border line between Europe and Asia. Sightseeing: architectural monuments of the XIX century. Return to the train. Overnight on the train.

Tuesday

September 5: This whole day is spent on the train.

Day 13
Wednesday

September 6: Arrival to St. Petersburg. Long city tour. Lunch. Trip to Peterhoff. Dinner out in the city. Return to the train. Overnight on the train.

Day 14
Thursday

September 7: Arrival to Moscow. City tour. Visit to Red Square and the Kremlin. Accommodation (****). Dinner in the city. Night walk in Moscow. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 15
Friday

September 8: Return flight home.
